Research
I consider myself a researcher-practitioner, in that I am seeking to explore how therapy and clients work on theoretical as well as personal levels. This doesn’t mean that all my clients are research subjects, simply that I am awake to new ideas about how to improve as a therapist, and how to help the profession see their clients and relationships differently. All research is subject to appropriate consents and ethical approvals. My current interests include the role of client imagery and metaphor in the development of Unconditional Positive Self-Regard (UPSR).
I have presented my research at Research Conferences for the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and the World Association of Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapists and Counsellors.
My article on my research was published on the 6th of May, 2023 in the European Journal of Qualitative Research in Psychotherapy
BACP Research conference, May 2021
SPTI Research Showcase, November 2021
Presenting a Brief Research Paper, WAPCEPC Conference, Copenhagen, July 2022
This shelf in my office displays the pieces of art I have made to accompany the writing and presenting of my research, the last one being completed only after the article was published.
